Rungia is a small herb/vegetable which grows to about 30 cm high .It has glossy foliage with distinctive yellow markings on the leaf. It is often given the common name of Mushroom plant because of the earthy sharp flavour of the leaves when eaten raw. It is usually sold here in summer in the herb section of most garden centres though you might have to travel to Papua New Guinea to see it available in any quantity, as it is sold there as a leafy green in the vegetable markets of Mount Hagen and Minj. In the Medlpa language it is known as kenkaba and in the Middle Wahgi language it is called aimbe.
2017 update: I no longer have a plant of this. I saw it recently available form Renaissance Herbs.
