Plant pathology:Cercospora leaf spot on Beets

Silver beet with fungal disease Cercospora beticola

This disease affects Silver beet (Swiss Chard) and beetroot and is not too serious as it mainly affects the older leaves which become pock marked and spotted with grey brown areas. However if these leaves are not removed regularly the spores from this fungus may be blown around to affect nearby plants or to younger leaves in the middle of the plant. Remove affected leaves and place in a bin not into compost.
