Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Cele Niffenegger'

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Cele Niffenegger'
The other day I featured a couple of the native Hibiscus but it is the spectacular exotic blooms of the Hawaiian varieties which look great over summer and get all the attention. This one only grows to a low height of about 1.5 metres and has lots of large pink ruffled flowers. To grow it well, it needs to be grafted onto understock such as Hibiscus arnottianus to make it more resistant to root rot and stem borer.
This Hibiscus originates from Florida and was bred by Dan D Wolfe from 'Francis Cooper' x 'Surfrider'
2017 update: I have no stock available of this variety.

  1. Beautiful hibiscus. I had a couple of Hawaiian ones, but the plant don't seem to last long.

  2. Hi i am new here, am glad i learned of different rootstocks for resistance. We dont practice grafting of hibiscus here as they are not really commercially grown much. Besides we have a lot of hybrids done here which suit our climate. However, i think aphids are bad pests here. I have some colors posted in my earlier post this year if you want to view some colors. thanks.
