Ocimum basilicum, Thai Basil or horapha
Thai Basil is one which thrives in the heat and humidity of late summer long after Italian "sweet" Basil has lost its delicate flavour and has become rank and gone to seed .The warm liquorice flavour enhances the delicate creamy coconut flavour of a Thai curry when added just before serving and combines well with a lime juice ,chilli dressing of a chicken salad.
